The monument to Alexander Pushkin.


  Aleksander Pushkin is ranked as one of Russian  greatest poets. He not only brought Russian poetry to its highest excellence, but also had a great influence on all Russian literature in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
  The monument to A. Pushkin installed on one of the most beautiful streets of the city, bearing the name of the poet. It was created in 1959 by architect G. Schulz and sculptor M. A. Minkus. Somewhat later, the monument was decorated with lanterns in the style of the XIX century. Today, the monument to Alexander Pushkin is an object of cultural heritage for regional purposes.
  Each year, at the birthday of A. S. Pushkin, near the monument held poetry readings, lovers of his art solemnly lay flowers to his monument. The celebration attended by representatives of the Rostov regional branch of the Russian writers' associations, cultural institutions, students and pupils of art schools of the city.



Don State Public Library











 Don State PublicLibrary - it is the Central Library of the Rostov region, located in our city. Library was founded in January 7, 1886. Throughout its history, this library has gone through many transformations. In the beginning it was called Rostov Public Library. Then - Rostov State Public Library named after Karl Marx, the book depository named after Karl Marx, The North-Caucasion State Library named after Karl Marx etc. And, finally,  in 1992 - Don State Public Library. The new building of the library on the Pushkinskaya Street, designed by architect J. S. Zanisa was opened in May 25, 1994. The building consists of several volumes, where are placed reading rooms, offices, and 16-story stack. Today, it is a modern informational, social, and cultural center of our region, a resource center in the support system of municipal library and a center of countinuing education of library professionals. The library has an exhibition hall, which often hosts exhibitions of paintings, rare books and other crafts. It also has its own cinema, where the screenings in the original language. Despite the warning, and the constant threat  that young people prefer to stay close, rather than inside tha walls of the library. When the project was created, one of the motivations was to attract young people to learn. Part of this task is competed.
